Dirk Marks is a Water Resources Engineer with over 40 years of experience dealing with challenges of providing safe, reliable and affordable water supplies. He has a degree in Civil Engineering and has worked tirelessly for the past 14 years planning, managing and acquiring water supplies for the Santa Clarita Valley. He is well equipped to meet the challenges of:

To continue to have resilient water supplies, the Santa Clarita Valley will need to thoroughly analyze potential investment in new conservation and infrastructure programs to balance reliability, quality, cost and the environment. Dirk Marks’ expertise uniquely qualifies him to contribute to sound policy decisions that will secure our water future.
In 2008, Dirk Marks and his family moved to Santa Clarita to work for the Castaic Lake Water Agency as its Manager of Water Resources. In 2018, he became the Director of Water Resources at the Newly formed Santa Clarita Valley Water Agency.
In 2021, Dirk retired from the Santa Clarita Valley Water Agency after a rewarding career.
Wanting to continue being active in the industry he so passionately loves, and to give back to the community he and his family call home, Dirk decided to run for a seat on our local Santa Clarita water board. His years of experience and knowledge of our local water management issues will prove to be one of the most valuable assets the Santa Clarita Valley has when it comes to our future water supply.
To keep the water flowing in Santa Clarita we need experience more than ever.
My family and I moved to Santa Clarita in 2008 so I could take a position with the Castaic Lake Water Agency. In a very short time, we knew Santa Clarita was a special place to live.
As a local resident, I’m concerned about the same things you are, safety, our water supply, and the growth of our city. Having the inside knowledge from working for many years in the Castaic Lake Water Agency and the Santa Clarita Water Agency, I know with the right leadership our city will continue to prosper and have the water resources it needs.
